Our Mental Health Reminder
Many of my amazing friends, in particular my ‘tribe’ of women over 50, know that one of my favourite sayings is ‘You’ve Got this!”
To be clear, I never say this as a throw-away line.
I’m very careful with my words and as an Author, I understand how content and indeed ‘tone’ in delivery can affect another person.
For example, how many times have you said something to someone with an intention of ‘fun’, when in actual fact the other person has become offended? The spoke and the written word is so incredibly powerful. Everything has a meaning however it is how we deliver it that determines how it is received.
As a woman over 50, I’m also mindful of incredibly fragile our mental health can be especially since the global pandemic which has created more than physical chaos.
All of the challenges that we faced from the beginning and throughout has had profound affects on mental health worldwide.
I refer to society’s mental health challenges as the 2nd wave of the pandemic! Why? The increase in demand of support services in this space has been unprecedented from all ages and in all forms.
The challenges we have faced, and continue to face, are taking such a toll that we struggle to find a way.
The ecomony, businesses, accomodation, relationship breakdowns, education, government departments…the list is endless!
All of the challenges these areas that affect our communities on a daily basis are stretched to their limits and are being torn by the very fabric that is our lives.
Confusion, worry, insecurity and the unknown of the future all play a part in chipping away at our mental health.
I am hopeful for the future and I strongly believe that like with any ‘breakdown’ there will be a stronger and better ‘breakthrough’, however in the meantime if you come across my path and are in need of love, support and a little dose of Jaynie #eternaloptimism
