Have you ever heard the term "biohacking" and immediately pictured hyper-wealthy tech executives taking 70 supplements a day, undergoing extreme medical experiments, and spending a fortune to live forever?

If that lifestyle feels completely out of touch with your reality, you are not alone.

On the latest episode of Soul Sentred - The Podcast, host Jaynie Morris sat down with Camilla Thompson—the "Queen of Biohacking," executive coach, and bestselling author of Biohack Me. Camilla's journey from severe, life-threatening burnout to reversing her biological age by 11 years is the ultimate proof that true health optimization is accessible, affordable, and deeply intuitive.

The Wake-Up Call: When Burnout Turns Dangerous

Before Camilla became a leading health optimization expert, she was living a life many modern women know all too well: juggling a demanding career in media, maintaining a perfectionist mindset, and prioritizing everyone else's needs above her own.

The breaking point? She found herself hospitalized with sepsis.

"This is what stress does to you. And this is what happens as a woman when you juggle too much. You prioritised everything else apart from yourself and you're completely disconnected from your body."

Later, after having her first child at 26, she faced severe postnatal mental health challenges. Traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture ultimately helped save her life during this dark period, introducing her to the power of alternative healing. But it was an environmental toxin that pushed her to dive headfirst into the world of biohacking.

Surviving Mould and SIRS (Chronic Inflammation)

Like many Australians, Camilla unknowingly lived in a home filled with toxic mould. She developed SIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome), leaving her body in a state of constant, high-inflammatory shock—the biological precursor to most chronic diseases.

Navigating a medical system where general practitioners often lack specialized training in environmental toxins, hormones, and nutrition, Camilla had to take control of her own health.

Using simple, low-cost biohacking techniques—focusing heavily on nutrient-dense foods, cellular detoxification, infrared saunas, and targeted lifestyle modifications—she not only reversed the inflammation, but reversed her cellular age by 11 years.

Best of all? She did it without spending thousands of dollars on cryotherapy or hyperbaric chambers.

Overcoming "Health Paralysis"

If you've ever walked into a health food store or scrolled through social media only to feel completely overwhelmed by conflicting health advice, you’ve experienced what Camilla calls "health paralysis." One expert says eat keto; another says plant-based. One says take twenty supplements; another says none.

How do we cut through the noise?

  • Isolate and Simplify: Don't start ten new things at once. If you want to try a new supplement, isolate it alongside your core baseline so you actually know what is working.

  • The Foundations Come First: No amount of NMN or expensive supplements can outrun a poor diet, bad sleep, or a bottle of wine every night. Address your hydration, sleep, movement, and relationship with alcohol first.

  • Trust Your Intuition: Your body is a unique ecosystem. Pay attention to how foods, habits, and environments actually make you feel.

Stop Guessing: The Power of DNA Methylation

Because every body is different, generic wellness advice rarely works. This is why Camilla refuses to coach any client without starting with a DNA methylation test.

Using a simple mouth swab, this test bypasses the guesswork by mapping out your unique genetic health code. It reveals exactly how your body detoxifies, identifies specific nutrient deficiencies, and highlights potential food intolerances.

Your Genes Are Not Your Destiny

Unlocking your genetic code can sound intimidating. Camilla references actor Chris Hemsworth, who publicly shared that he carries the APOE4 gene, making him highly predisposed to Alzheimer’s disease.

But carrying a gene is simply a code—it's your epigenetics (your lifestyle, environment, stress management, and diet) that determines whether that gene is switched "on" or "off". Knowing your code gives you the ultimate prevention roadmap.

The 100-Year-Old Mindset

We often think of longevity as a math problem solved by supplements and technology. But while visiting London for her great-aunt's 100th birthday, Camilla received a powerful reminder of what truly keeps us young. Her aunt—as sharp and vibrant as ever—doesn't take 70 supplements a day.

What she does have is a profound sense of community, purpose, and a positive mindset toward aging. Research shows that simply maintaining a positive, preventative mindset around getting older can add an average of seven and a half years to your life.

Reclaim Your Healthspan

Biohacking isn't about chasing an elitist, superhuman status. It’s about making small, deliberate, everyday choices to align your biology and your environment so you can live a long, vibrant, and happy life.

You have far more control over your aging process than you think. Start with the basics, trust your gut, and focus on the lifestyle factors that build real, lasting vitality.
